Once upon a time – or perhaps just recently – a peculiar visitor appeared by the stream next to the Humpolecký Mill. He wore a green coat, long fair hair, red boots, and a crown-like hat that glistened like a drop of dew when touched by sunlight.

He quietly sat on a stone, lit his pipe, and gazed long at the old mill. Everything fell silent.

“My name is Augustínek the Water Sprite, and I’ve come to protect this mill,” he gurgled at last as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

And since then, he’s been here. Every day, every evening. Watching.

But Augustínek is no ordinary water sprite. He’s a magical guardian of peace and order. With eyes like a still lake, he watches every footstep, every guest, every splash in the water.

When people respect nature, cherish the stillness, and keep the water clean, Augustínek takes a satisfied puff from his pipe – and a gentle ripple appears on the surface that never quite closes.

But beware – this water sprite sees everything. Even though Augustínek looks unassuming, no one passes by the mill without being under his quiet watch.

They say he brings peaceful sleep to those with kind hearts… and makes the careless ones’ boots mysteriously damp.
